Philippine and South Korean Game Developers Forge New Alliances Through GameDev Summit

MANILA, Philippines — February 2025 — The GameDev Summit (GDS), the Philippines’ premier international games industry conference, is strengthening cross-border collaboration in Asia’s game development landscape through a series of strategic partnerships between Philippine and South Korean game organizations.

The partnerships—first formalized through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between the Philippines and South Korea’s game industry representatives—mark a major milestone in advancing regional co-production, IP creation, and knowledge exchange.

These developments were inspired and catalyzed through initiatives led by Alexis Geronga, Co-Founder and Executive Director of GameDev Summit (GDS) and Business Development Director of GameOps Inc., the intellectual property owner and production partner of GDS.

“This partnership signals the start of a stronger creative bridge between Southeast Asia and South Korea,” said Alexis. “Our vision for GDS has always been to evolve beyond networking—it’s about transforming relationships into long-term co-development and co-IP opportunities.”

GDS as Catalyst for Regional Collaboration

At GameDev Summit 2025 held in Boracay, GDS hosted the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Korea Indie Game Association (KIGS), its Vice-Chair company From the Red, and the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP). The agreement focuses on fostering joint indie projects, developer exchanges, and the creation of shared publishing and production platforms across Asia.

This partnership follows the PH–Korea Game Developers Cooperation Agreement, which aims to strengthen bilateral ties and mutual market access. Together, these agreements reflect GDS’s growing role as a neutral, trusted platform for uniting Asian indie game ecosystems.

A Shared Vision: From Outsourcing to Original IP

The collaboration spearheaded by GDS and GameOps emphasizes the next phase of regional growth—where service providers evolve into co-developers and IP owners. Through GDS, industry stakeholders will gain access to matchmaking programs, pitch reviews, B2B meeting lounges, and international co-development showcases highlighting successful Korea-Philippines partnerships.

“Asia’s game development potential is immense—but fragmented,” Alexis added. “By aligning networks from the Philippines, Korea, Japan, and the wider Southeast Asian region, GDS helps unify our strengths and connect indie developers to global markets.”

Looking Ahead to GameDev Summit 2026

Building on the success of these partnerships, GameDev Summit 2026—set for February 3-5, 2026 at Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort—will expand its agenda around three core themes:

  1. IP Development – supporting original game creation across Asia;
  2. Building Communities and Service Ecosystems – strengthening ties among developers, publishers, and service partners in the region;
  3. Global Industry – connecting Asia’s creative talent to world markets through co-production and investment.

As the official IP owner, GameOps Inc. will continue to anchor GDS operations, ensuring that cross-border initiatives translate into tangible outcomes—ranging from co-development deals and mentorships to long-term partnerships.
